TIME Magazine Honors Samsung and LG for Innovative Consumer Electronics
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics announced on Oct. 31 that their latest innovations have been recognized as “The Best Inventions of 2024” by TIME Magazine. Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K TV and Music Frame, along with LG’s Transparent OLED TV and Signature Kitchen Suite Combi Wall Oven, were highlighted for their groundbreaking advancements in consumer electronics and home products.
TIME Magazine praised Samsung’s Neo QLED 8K TV for its incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which enhances the clarity of older content. “The AI 8K processor’s upscaling algorithm transforms standard-definition videos into crisp 8K resolution on a slim 12.9mm thick screen,” TIME noted. This technological leap represents a significant advancement in television technology, offering consumers an unparalleled viewing experience.
The Music Frame, another innovative product from Samsung, was lauded for its dual functionality as both a speaker and a decorative frame. TIME commented, “It can be placed on a stand or hung on the wall to display photos or prints, transforming a home speaker into a beautiful frame.” This product exemplifies the modern trend of integrating technology seamlessly into home decor, catering to consumers’ desire for aesthetically pleasing yet functional electronics.
LG Electronics also received accolades for its world’s first wireless and transparent OLED TV, the LG Signature OLED T. TIME highlighted the product’s AOD (Always-On-Display) feature, which allows users to enjoy ever-changing artworks or make it appear as a transparent glass window. “Today’s consumers are looking for new ways to decorate their spaces without a giant black screen,” TIME remarked, emphasizing the product’s appeal to design-conscious consumers.
In addition to the OLED TV, LG’s Signature Kitchen Suite Combi Wall Oven was recognized in the home products category. This ultra-premium built-in appliance features an internal camera that identifies ingredients and recommends various customized recipes. TIME described it as “Next-Level Cooking,” underscoring the appliance’s potential to revolutionize home cooking with its smart capabilities.
This recognition by TIME Magazine is not new for either company. Samsung Electronics has previously been honored for products such as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, solar remote control, and The Freestyle in 2022, and the Galaxy Z Flip5 and microplastic filter in 2023. LG Electronics has been named among TIME’s best inventions for six consecutive years, with its OLED TVs from 2019 to 2021, “Tiiun” and CLOi robot in 2022, and wireless OLED TV in 2023.
