Huawei’s RAN Intelligent Agents wins …

At MWC 2025 Barcelona, Huawei’s IntelligentRAN won GTI’s “Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology Award”.

This award recognizes Huawei’s innovations in user experience optimization, intelligent O&M, and network energy saving. The intelligentRAN solution can help operators around the globe achieve intelligent network upgrade and improve user experience while reducing O&M costs and energy consumption.

Wireless networks are becoming increasingly complex as they incorporate more bands, modes, and standards. This creates challenges for operators in ensuring user experience and O&M. Huawei’s IntelligentRAN solution uses foundation models and digital twins technologies to create RAN Intelligent Agents. The intelligent and flexible design of these agents boosts operator efficiency, cuts costs, speeds up new service implementation, and supports green, low-carbon goals.

IntelligentRAN has the following highlights:

User experience assurance: IntelligentRAN ensures differentiated experience, enables a shift from traffic-focused to experience-driven operations, and explores intelligent operational models to enable monetization. In heavy-load settings such as high-speed railways and concerts, it provides assurance for voice, short video, and conferencing for VIP users.

Intelligent O&M: IntelligentRAN uses AI technologies such as foundation models and digital twins for autonomous maintenance and optimization based on human-machine interaction. Specifically, it integrates data from the user plane and control plane to simulate multidimensional indicators when user complaints occur, to accurately locate problems, and improve O&M efficiency.

Energy-performance balance: IntelligentRAN enables green networks through multi-objective joint decision-making based on foundation models. This helps implement 24/7 energy saving while ensuring optimal user experience. By predicting service trends and modeling in the time, frequency, space, and power dimensions, base stations can accurately construct transmission graphs, which helps save energy.
